January 2024
Dear Fisherfolk,
Ready or not, 2024 is here. We're still here too. Just taking a little Winter breather right now. Time to rest, reflect, and look back at our 2023. As the great Dizzy Dean once said, "It ain't braggin' if ya' done it." And we 'done' it. Here's how last year played out.
43 Trout shows
7 songwriting workshops
13 states including AR, CO, FL, IL, IN, LA, MO, NM, NY, OK, PA, TX, and WV
4 major festivals - The Kerrville Folk Festival (Texas), Moccasin Creek Festival (Illinois), The Red River Revel (Louisiana), and The Ozark Folk Festival (Arkansas)
We backed off on the number of Live Streams as people are getting out more and not relying on the Internet for their 'live' music. We intend to change up the format a bit in 2024 and continue to do some Live Streams to accommodate folks who can't get out to see us in person. We already have bookings for 2024 in 10 states so our traveling days are not behind us yet. Our van (400,000 miles and counting) has been having a bit of trouble. An alarm noise keeps going off that sounds a lot like a Silver Alert. It's disturbing but at least we have some time to get it fixed before our next road trip.
Recording is picking up in the Trout Studio! Not only are we recording ourselves, but we also have projects started with others. The Fabulous Schubert Brothers from Texas have been working on an album project with us and the mixing part is going great! Bill Poss and JJ (Love Seat) came down from Illinois and recorded 6 or 7 songs and will be returning for more soon. Our friend and Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk Winner last year, Barbara Jarrell, is coming up from Louisiana to put down some of her tunes with us. It should be a great year! Hope it's a good one for you too!
Troutfully Yours,
Keith and Ezra
