February 2020
Dear e-Fisherfolk,
It's February and like many other intelligent Americans, we're heading to Florida! The sweet call of tropical climes is strong. Our trip will take us through AR, TN, AL, and GA. Somewhere along that Southern route we expect to find a place that sells boiled peanuts! If you haven't tried them yet, you're missing out! Ezra refers to them as "redneck edamame".
You may have noticed that we've taken a lot of time off this winter. Something about driving on ice and snow has become less appealing through the years. Aside from enjoying time with our families, we've also been getting together in the studio to play and write music. We both have new pedal boards. Ezra bought a new electric guitar and hasn't put it down for more than a few hours since he's gotten it. He got his first electric guitar way back in the 70's, a 1964 Gibson E S-345 with a Bigsby whammy bar. The new one, an Eastman T486B, (look it up on the Internet) looks and feels a lot like that original guitar. You can go home again! The new guitar even has a WHAMMY BAR! It's been exciting trying out some new sounds. Click here to see the new guitar in action.
We'll finish up the month in Memphis, TN at the Buckman Performing Arts Center on Feb 28 & 29. That's Leap Day's Eve and Leap Day! Even with the extra day, this winter is passing quickly and soon it'll be time for short sleeves, sandals and swimming in states not named Florida! Punxsutawney Phil predicted a short winter. We sure hope he's right!
Troutfully yours,
Keith and Ezra
PS - On a side note, Ezra has produced a new CD for the Barbaloots (a project by our friend Michael Cochram). It marks the 1st release of an album recorded at the new Trout studio. Keith played bass on it and wants you to know there are some really cool songs here. The Barbaloots release party will be March 1 at the Fayetteville Public Library. Keith and Ezra will be there. You should be there too!
